outdated router

I still have the old Scientific Atlanta 2100 that I was given in 2008...ive read that Cox doesn't even recommend these to use with their service anymore...seems like I would've been offered an upgraded one sometime in the last 7 years...could explain why my internet is so slow. oh and ps..surprise surprise im having email issues again

I think you answered your own question. Sounds like you have a old modem. Did you buy it to begin with? If so, you would need to buy a new one too. Were you looking for suggestions?

no im saying if Cox no longer recommends the model that they GAVE me when I initially paid for service then it seems like theyd give me one that's more compatible to the service they provide. ps..webmail down again. shocker!

They may have included the price of the modem in the install, but I don't think they gave you a modem. Either way, they don't give away modems for free today. You can either rent a gateway, or buy a modem.
