Online Backup with OS X Mavericks 10.9.3

I'm still unable to get Online Backup to work.  Supposedly the most recent release is compatible with OS X Mavericks.

Why not just use Time Machine? Doesn't that come free? Pretty sure its not compatible. See here

"Mac OS X 10.7 is currently not compatible with the software client."

That's an older post. There was a recent software update and I'm sure one of the release notes listed as compatible. The down side to time machine is that there is no guarantee against hardware failure. Plus it would be nice to utilize a feature that is included in my plan.

I think your right. I was trying to find the update but I couldn't. It does require Java though, since the client runs on Java inside a browser frame (unless Mac version is different). Maybe try updating it?

I thought you may be on to something since I didn't even have Java installed on the computer yet, but no luck.

Does it not install or just not work after install?  ANy error message I could look up? Could you maybe post a screen shot? Also, try this site, this will check incase its a java version issue.

Last try downloading the installer again incase there was any corruption.

I've tried installing and reinstalling many times.  Once I install it initially, it seems like it is going to work. It's status is "backing up" and there is a progress bar on the bottom.  The error log then fills with every file it attempts to upload stating "transfer error."  If I reboot, it won't even work at all.  As soon as I open it, I get the spinning rainbow wheel.  At that point I forced closed it and just uninstalled it.  The results have been the same with or without Java.  I guess I will have to just use time machine..

Maybe try this site? It will test different versions of Java. http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~matuszek/General/JavaVersionTests/JavaTests.html

!!!! I just found these sites using google. Use are your own risk.

In general, I would use Timemachine. Its going to integrate into the OS better and your not missing much with the Cox version. You might try Google Drive if you want off site backup.
