Now that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has changed the definition of broadband to be a minimum of 25 mbps download and 3 mbps upload speeds, will Cox's Essential Internet Package (what I have right now and only getting 5 mbps download and 1 mbps upload speeds) be changed to that minimum?

The definition of broadband will just effect federal funding of certain programs, and matters more when defining which states have more access to "broadband" internet and which don't. There were packages for speeds below 1.5Mbps before, I don't see why there can't be packages below 25Mb now.

swhit001,
The upload and download speed of the Essential package has increased in your area. Essential is now 15 Mbps down & 2 Mbps up. We don't have any information on a projected increase to the minimums you've mentioned in your post at this time, however should that change, we will keep everyone updated.
