I just recently got an e-mail from Cox regarding an incident of alleged service abuse with the original complaint sent to them by "IP-Echelon as an agent for Paramount" and now I'm totally freaked out by this.
I have been using www.thepiratebay.se for some downloading of several new released movies and I'm pretty sure this is what it's regarding. I have deleted everything I have downloaded and blocked thepiratebay from my computer and have also uninstalled the P2P downloading program Vuze which I used to obtain these movies.
My question is this: Will I be pursued for a possible lawsuit because of the movies I've downloaded or is it merely just a threat to warn me that further downloading will result in a lawsuit?
I don't want to be sued, have agents break down my door and arrest me for these stupid movies... will what I have done be enough to make sure I don't get in any further trouble? Do I need to contact anyone regarding this and apologize and to re-assure them that I will no longer download any more movies?
Thanks for any help in the matter!

No reason to be freaked out. It was probably just a warning. Sounds like you did everything the warning said. There should be a number on the warning to call, along with a ticket number, if they want you to contact them. If not, its just FYI. See this news article for more (unofficial) info.

Sharing and downloading copyrighted materials like music, movies, and television programming without the consent of the copyright owner is illegal. Cox strongly discourages its customers from these types of infringement and we urge customers to be sure that their computers and wireless networks are not used by others for these purposes.
The Cox Network Security Department follows the protocols and procedures set forth in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Our Network Security Department receives and complies with subpoenas from the US Copyright Group in cases of copyright infringement.
It sounds like this was your first warning letter. At this time, you'll want to remove all the copyrighted files that you downloaded and turn off or delete any file-sharing software. As long as we don't receive further DMCA complaints, you don't have anything to worry about!
You can find more info regarding copyright infringement at http://ww2.cox.com/PeerToPeerNetworks and http://bit.ly/Copyright_Infringement.

Thank you for the info, it won't be an issue any further going forward as I will make sure no more copyrighted materials will be downloaded. Thanks again!
