Not getting up to 50 MBps speed
Hi,
I am not sure where else to turn. I have called twice and done the tech chat thing atleast 4 times. I recently called and upgraded from preferred internet (25-30MBPS) to premier (up to 50MBMps). My speed never changed. Before I was getting an average of 25-30 MBps and still do. I used speedtest.net and Cox's own speed test. Nothing changed.
Every time I contact Cox they say something like " I will re-provision the cable modem in order to get the correct speed and then you can make a test on the connection.". The chat gets disconnected and once my modem comes back up I run the test and nothing changes??
I am getting frustrated, I am paying more but not getting more. Not sure where else to turn other than I saw some moderators on this forum help out some people with similar problems..
I have the Cisco DPQ3212 modem. I have power cycled it, had cox 're-provision' it, even changed the ethernet cables all in hopes of getting my new speed.
Can anyone help please???

I am also having the same problem just upgraded from preferred to premiere a couple of days ago using a SB6141 modem, my download speeds are between 25-30MBps and my upload speeds are between 15-20MBps.

So was hoping to hear from someone at Cox by now but given this is the weekend maybe I should expect monday. Anyways hope they help you also gdhaliwal.. This am I ran another cox speed test and still the same: My Upload Speed went up by about 4 MBps but as you can see I am still 17 MBps short of 50... I understand it says "Up too 50 MBps" but I should be in the ballpark... Not 33MBps if I am paying for the higher speed...

Thanks Tiffany, that seems to be working. I just got home and tried the speed test and it was 55MBps... I will check it later and withing the next few days to make sure it still works but looks like that did it.... Thanks you sooooo much!
