Not happy that email again took more than 24 hrs to get to my inbox. Had two people email me on Sunday morning, and the emails didn't show up until today (Monday.) This seems to happen about once a month---emails held up somewhere, then I have people say "You didn't answer my email" and I have to tell them "Because Cox held them up and I never got them until a day or more later."

Hence the reason people are using better email platforms like Gmail - there's apparently a huge overhaul to the Cox Webmail that is still undergoing development so hopefully they address all of the issues email has now.

There was a spam / fraud email that got delayed like that for this account yesterday. In my admin days, I saw both it being a problem with external mail and with our own internal servers getting bogged down doing delivery. One possible issue is a large influx of spam having to be processed, so that is something that is not as easy to control, as spammers / scammers are very determined to get around blocks.
Another thing, also related to spam, is there could have been a large batch sent with forged return / reply-to addresses and so Cox's servers are having to process and deliver a larger-than-usual amount of bounced messages that have faked email headers in them so that the spammers don't have to deal with worrying about bounces and it adds a measure of disguise.

What was the domain of the sender's address? We can take a look at the headers of those messages that came in late to figure out what caused the delay. Can you copy and paste the headers into an email, send to cox.help@cox.com. Also, please include the name and address listed on the account.
