No NFL this week

So I can only guess that because of the number of people watching the football games I get "temporarily off air" no FOX and CBS. Probably the same reason I got rid of their internet years ago because it would slow to a crawl on weekends. Sure am spending a lot of money each month to not watch TV.

We complained about temporarily off air messages a few months ago...and the moderators suggested having a technician look at the connections in our homes.  What's the odds of temporarily off air channels striking again with a technician in our home?

However, I did watch football this weekend, but I also got a Subscribe to this Channel screen while switching from Fox to CBS.

The number of viewers doesn't impact the quality or availability of signal.  With that in mind I think we need to look for other causes.  Do you experience these problems with all TVs in the home?  It's also entirely possible your video issues could be related to why you had experienced Internet problems.

we gave up on the internet service years ago. yes, the exact same problem on all TV's, yes we did all the steps we have to go through before they will send out a technician. and, last night I almost got to see the entire monday night football game before ALL out channels went "Temporarily off air" and today they are still off air. and with COX fast service it wont be until tomorrow until the technician comes out. got to love that reliability and fast service

and while i have extra time on my hands lets review everything that has been done to fix the problem. I replaced all the cables in my house, highest quality, no splitters, the technician said that was not the problem. I installed a signal booster, the technician said I didn't have to do that so now I have a box, outlet, and signal booster that are not in use. COX replaced the entire cable from the box to my house. Cox boosted the signal to my house. This aint rocket science.

When I first moved into my house, I bundled my services with Cox.  Within a year, the signals started degrading to each service.  First, my phone became intermittent; then my Internet slowed and finally I wasn't receiving certain television stations.  Because I'm somewhat tech savvy and didn't want a Cox technician clomping mud throughout my house, I started troubleshooting.

Too make a long troubleshooting story short, I found two splitters on main line connecting my primary outlet.

It appears the first homeowner subscribed to Cox because there was a Cox label on the furthest splitter.  The second homeowner subscribed to a satellite service then stuffed the CATV cable into the wall and routed the dish cable through the outlet.  The third homeowner subscribed to another CATV service, disconnected the dish cable and connected another splitter for a TV upstairs.  When Cox connected my bundled services, I…of course…needed a splitter.

I removed all splitters inside the wall and connected the main line to my outlet.  Good to go.

It was bitter-sweet fixing my signal problem.  I was happy I fixed it but pissed the Cox technician didn’t first test the signal strength.

OK, its only fair to follow up with the fix. COX tech came out and fixed some connectors and found a bad cable from the box to the house. Service was great and helpful. Everything works great now. The lesson, if I start getting tiling I am going to put in a service call right away especially during football season.
