Just had Cox professionally installed 07/17/2014
Seemed fine when the guy left. Soon after..... the internet disconnects every 45 min
it will reconnect after a min or 2.
I can not have unreliable internet
Any help would be appreciated.
I am ready to call Monday and have them take everything out

First, what kind of modem do you have and what are it's signal levels. Usually you can find them on the 192.168.100.1 webpage.
Second, are you connected direct to the modem? Or are you wireless?
Third, if you are connected direct to the modem, with no router, and its disconnecting every 45min I would say he didn't install it correctly and you might want to call and have him call back and do it right. I think the call it a re-install work order.

Thank you for the quick response
I am connected wireless. Besides the recievers & DVR there is only one box . I assume it is a modem & router combo?
here are the results of the web page you suggested

Those signal levels look GREAT! Never seen a SNR so high. Forget the tech not doing a good job, I take that back 100%.
It could be a hardware issue. Not to scare you, but might want to look at the thread I just started here about a possible issue with the DPQ3925.

going to my local cox store to swap it out for a new one.
Do you think I should ask for a different brand or model???
Are there such options available??
Just looking to avoid further issues

::Sorry for delay:: I typed it but forgot to hit post. Doh!
Not sure. They might release a firmware patch that will fix it, but that will be automatic and since to my knowledge they are not even aware of the issue, I have no idea how long that patch could take.
As for what to switch to,depends on what they will give you for free.I don't know of any other phone/internet/router combo. Do you use/have Cox phone? If so, just ask them if they sell a different brand of the same type as your returning.
If you just need a modem/router (no phone) I would either try for the Motorola SBG6580, or if you want to buy it yourself, the upgrade is the SBG6782, but I would only suggest that if you want Wifi AC. The other option would be Netgear CG4500BD but Cox may charge you more for that, but maybe you can twist their arm (politly) considering your going out of the way to bring the device back.
I also wanted to say I can't promise this will fix the problem, since we still don't know for sure what the problem is. But either way, it shouldn't make the problem worse and won't be vulnerable to the exploit which just became public a week ago.

Thank you for your time. I swapped out what I had and now have a GREAT Netgear router separate from the phone and cable.
The previous system was all in one box. This new set up has 2 boxes. One being the router and the other the modem & phone
The internet has not disconnected yet. I think it will be fine now.
I ended up running to the Cox store 2x today. They swapped out the wrong box the 1st time
The people there were very nice and gave me a $20.00 Credit for all my trouble.
I installed everything my self. It was very easy..
All is well that ends well... Thank you again for the clarity

Any chance you could change to the "other" cable Internet provider for this area?
No, wait! There isn't one.
Google, where are you when we need you?

Your signal levels are very good. Without getting too techy here, what matters most is SNR and power levels. You are well within acceptable ranges. You can use a search engine to find out what the best power levels would be. But you have nothing to worry about in the least, your levels are excellent.
