My service has fallen apart

We went on vacation last week and since we've been back, things have been hinky with our cable service.  I have to wonder if some sort of update went out while we were gone or something.

1.  We lost the video output setting on both HD boxes, causing ridiculously slow channel changing.  Easy enough to fix, but still no idea why it changed.  We had set this before to resolve the same issue, but the setting reverted somehow.

2.  No On-Demand service for days now.  The on-demand channel works fine until we want to actually play a selection, then we get the message that the show is not available at this time.  For all shows and channels.  I've called tech support twice and I have been told there are ongoing problems with On Demand and they've received a lot of calls, but it's not their system and they have to wait for the vendor to fix it.  They have no idea what's wrong or if there is an ETA for resolution.  Meanwhile, some of the shows I want to watch are set to expire in the next few days. :(  It's frustrating that the positioning given to the reps is basically passing the buck.  Cox needs to own the problem and drive resolution, not sit around waiting for a vendor fix.

3.  No Caller ID on the TV.  Again.  This happened to us a long time ago and they had to fix something in the back office at Cox to fix it.  Took a few days -- some sort of flag in the data or something.  Again, this was working fine before we left for vacation. It's been escalated and should be fixed in a day or so.  But still annoying.  While trouble-shooting the problem with the tech on the phone, the first response was that it won't work with parental controls turned on.  What???  We've had parental controls set forever and the Caller ID always worked.  Of course, disabling parental controls didn't solve the problem.  But the very idea that the caller ID display could possibly be connected to the parental control functions is crazy.

I just don't understand why so many things went wrong at once.  It's not a box problem since all 3 boxes have the same issues.  Did our cable service miss us that much while we were gone??? ;)

I'm not aware of any ongoing issues that would impact services the way you have described.  That being the case I'm sure there's a fix to get everything working as expected.  Here's an article that may be useful to help troubleshoot at home.  Should that fail for any reason it may be time to have a technician come out and troubleshoot further.
