I am really starting to get frustrated. I've had multiple disconnections...I would estimate between 30-40. The disconnect lasts for 30 seconds to a minute. I noticed it first with my ps3, then my iPad/iPhone. To make sure it wasn't my router, I connected my ps3 directly to my modem (one of those Motorola docsis 3 modems). That didn't help. Got a DNS error. I changed all of my DNS to those found on openDNS but to no avail. I'm thinking this may be a cox issue. Anyone else having this issue?
P.s. I did all of the usual things like restarting the router, modem, etc.

I have the same problem. I have a Motorola SBG6580. I have read on other forums the problem is with the firmware. As consumers we need COX to update all possible firmware for various routers to isolate these problems and find solutions. Here is the link to the other thread discussing the problem. Might be from Comcast but still the same problem and they found a firmware update fixed for most.

The SBG6850 should be using firmware version 3.2.1.0 at this time. Most of our systems are configured to automatically update the modem to this version if it's detected to not already be using it.

Chris: I have a Motorola SBG6580 in Ocala and the tech I spoke to sai dthey DO NOT do firmware updates period. I have down level firmware, reptative dropouts and have had 3 service calls in 2 months and still no fix.
I am in Baghdad and my wife and I use the connection whenever possible, can we really pretty please with some *** sugar on top get this fixed????? Three tech trips to the house and still issues? I would also like all the drops in the hous econnected instead of my wife having to go into the attic to switch cables (liek the tech told her to do).
The service to date with Cox is a JOKE. You let me know how you want to resolve this and I will be happy to help, but we want it fixed once and for all PLEASE!?
