Motorola/Arris Cable Modem Firmware Update

Hi,

I have been having some wifi connection issues with the 2.4GHz frequency. It suddenly stops working while the 5 GHz continues working.

I looked at the router setup page and found that the current firmware (SBG6X82-8.4.0.0-GA-05-809-NOSH) is way too old. I couldn't find any way to update it from the setup page, so, I looked on the Arris website and found that Cox is responsible for pushing updates. See  http://arris.force.com/consumers/articles/Drivers_and_Firmware/Upgrading-Firmware-on-Cable-Modems-Gateways.

Can you push out the latest firmware? Be happy to share any account info you might need. Looks like this is something you have done before. See http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/4413.aspx.

The firmware for the SBG6782 there is the current supported version for our network we are not able to update it beyond the supported versions. Is the 2.4hzg network dropping from the list like the broadcast stops or is it giving other error messages?

I can see the network but can't connect to it. I use 5 GHz for all my devices except for Chromecast. So, I'm looking for a solution to this problem.

The firmware I have (version 8.4) is from factory. Based on the link below, you have (at least) one newer supported version.

Can you please push that out?

I'm not sure which firmware version that link is referring to.  The only firmware version for that modem currently approved for use on our network is 8.4.0.0 release.  Are you sure the gateway supports 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz devices simultaneously?  I've been told by customers using the SBG6580 that it can only support one or the other.  If all else fails it may be necessary to reach out to Motorola/Arris for assistance with the wireless features.
