Motorola DCX3200 - No audio and slow to respond

I upgraded my old non-hd motorola to the dcx3200 yesterday.  Upon installing it last night I was only getting about 17 hd channels. I unplugged it many times and even used the reset tool on the website. By the time I got home from work today I had all my channels but now there is no sound. I've swapped the box between 2 tv's, switched from component to HDMI, swapped coax cables, and still no audio. My other older HD box is working fine on both TV's. When I run the diagnostics on the dcx3200 it shows "audio mute: on". and when I run the diagnostics on the working box its says "audio mute : off". I'm pretty sure this is the culprit and I also made sure the mute is off with the remote. I have no idea how to change this setting. On top of all this, the box is very slow to respond with the remote. Trying to avoid taking a day off to wait on a tech guy. Maybe a defective box?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks....

It should be possible to use the mute button on the remote while the remote is in cable receiver operation mode.
