I am not sure how long I have been your customer I am guessing 8 years. All this time I have been renting the modem my current charges are 6.99 per month, . I have been a good customer, never late on my payments, I would greatly appreciate if I were given the option to buy the modem instead of renting.

Has this modem been upgraded in the last 8 years, @Mermie? If not, it's probably a DOCSIS 2 modem, obsolete and not something you want to purchase. Since you are renting, Cox should provide you with a DOCSIS 3 modem at no additional charge. Also, are you still using an older "g" router? If so, that should be upgraded at the same time ... Cox currently provides gateways which include both the modem and router in one device. As Tiffany posted, you can upgrade and continue renting or purchase outright ... either way make sure you have current equipment.
