modem upgrades and shellshock

I saw in http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/6001.aspx that updates for modems come from COX and are usually automatic.

Three questions:

1.  If someone is left behind by the automatic updates, what's the proper way to get modem updated?  (ours is dpc3825-v302r125553-120620a-COX.bin from Jun 20 11:07:43 2012)

2.a) Are any of COX's modems (ie. Cisco dpc3825) susceptible to ShellShock?   b) if so, update soon?

3.  If modem is susceptible and hijacked, then ?????
