Modem Replacement

We lose internet connectivity from time-to-time and it appears to be the modem (once it's unplugged for a few seconds then plugged back in, it works fine). We do this daily, sometimes more often depending on usage.

I believe the modem is several years old. How do we go about getting a new modem?

Hi piglet,

You could purchase a modem from our Sales department, that would just require a phone call.  We also sell modems at our solutions stores.  Lastly, you can pick a modem up from a retail location, here is a list of Cox-approved modems - http://bit.ly/NNYDLk.

Before you go out and make a purchase it may be a good idea for us to take a look at the modem signal levels. We want to be sure that there are no other issues that could be causing these disconnects.  We would just need you to email the account information to cox.help@cox.com.

You want to get a DOCSIS 3 modem.  I'd say you probably own your modem if you have had it for several years.  I was in the same boat. You can buy or lease from Cox.  My opinion is that leasing it is not good financially.  I purchased my own modem. Cox has a page or suggested modems  http://ww2.cox.com/residential/support/tv/article.cox?articleId=%7Bb2ec95d0-7ef9-11df-5590-000000000000%7D

I picked the one I wanted and shopped around for the best price, purchased it and then called Cox to activate.

There isn't a better time to buy one too. Use code EMCWWVL58 and get a SB6141  for 84$ and get a free Dlink router. Router would probably be junk, but its always good to have a backup.
