Modem Connection Trouble

Amplifiers aren't bad, but we prefer to avoid them whenever it is feasible to fix a signal issue any other way. An amplifier amplifies everything fed into it, including noise, so even under ideal conditions it can sometimes amplify one problem while it fixes another. Plus there's the fact that it can eventually go bad and start adding signal issues of its own like random dropouts and additional noise.

If an amplifier is absolutely necessary, then a field technician will install one.

Thanks Kip.  Problem is that a tech came out about a week ago, could not figure out what the signal problems were, and installed an amp on the line.  While the signal to my modem has improved, unfortunately it seems to have affected the tv signals which previously had zero problems.  I'm just trying to find a solution to improve both modem and tv functionality.  At minimum, I think the installed amp needs to be removed as the tv signal issues are more annoying than having to occasionally restart the modem.
