I need a box to accommodate Cox going digital. I have a Sony Trinitron FD which accepts dvi, Component, S-video, Composite and Coax. The mini Box has 2 outpots, coax & hdmi. Coax is only 480, so I will have low res vs. the 720 & 1080 I can get with composite. I tried a hdmi to rca 5 cable but got no signal. I then tried a hdmi to composite converter with extruded audio, but only get the audio. Why do I not get the composite video? Is the output from the box encrypted? What is my solution besides buying a new hdmi tv?

Is it the Sony KV-40XBR800 series TV? If so, I don't see that it is HDCP compatible, which means the HDMI won't work, which means HD won't work. Need HDCP for HD signal with the Mini Boxes I think.

Composite video is SD (480) only. Component video is HD, but the mini-box has no component output. You have 2 choices:
1) An HDMI to DVI adapter: http://preview.tinyurl.com/p2bx4vt or
2) An HDMI to component adapter: http://preview.tinyurl.com/pq5g4fb
Caveat emptor.
