McAfee Home Security is blocking McAfee Home Security

I installed McAfee Home Security Suite on one of my laptop computers a few months ago and today I have been unable to access my e-mail or the internet because I get a message that says "McAfee Home Security has blocked McAfee Home Security."

I have been frustrated because I cannot access the Cox Web page to uninstall/reinstall. I cannot retreive my passwords because the computer won't connect to e-mail or the net.

I tried uninstalling it from the Control Panel, but that asks for my "administrator password" and the one I try does not work. When I click on "Forgot Password" nothing happens.

How do I fix this problem?

BTW, is there any way to change my forum username?

If its requiring the admin password to uninstall, and the one your using isn't working, there isn't too much you can do. Try this to remove the password all together, and then you can just add it back afterwards. However, those instructions require you to enter the current password, and if that doesn't work, then it becomes a general PC issue and not a Mcafee issue.

By the way, do you have two versions of Mcafee on your PC maybe? I don't see any other reason Mcafee could block itself unless they were different programs. If Mcafee wasn't running, then it couldn't block itself...because it wouldn't be running.

BTW IMHO Mcafee falls right behind Panda as being the worst AV out there. I suggest Avast if you want something free, and NOD32 if you can spare  the 10-20$. Sometimes it goes on sale on Newegg for even less.
