losing internet service at night

For the last few nights at midnight I lose I internet service for several hours. The DS light blinks and that US light and Online lights are off. Windows will give me an error that gateway is not available once but then find no problems after, just no internet access. Tonight I am getting an invalid IP config error after the lights have come back on. Do I need a new cable modem or are they working on the servers?
