I have been having issues with dropped connections. I went to Cox and changed out the modem, so I'm pretty sure it's OK. It's an Arris SB6182. My router is Apple Airport Express firmware 7.6.4.
I am pretty sure the issue is with the router because I have had it running for a couple days straight with just the modem installed.
Are there any special settings I should setup on the router?? Anybody have any experience with this or can give me a link that worked for them??

It's possible if you're using an Airport router that you're experiencing the same IPv6 issues that users across many different providers have been reporting. You could go into the Internet Connection settings and see if disabling IPv6 or setting it for link-local only helps.
