It takes 1.5 minutes to cancel a recording. Why so slow? Cancel Series Manager shows?

When I want to cancel a recording, it takes 30-45 seconds, and then I have to select it AGAIN to cancel. Total time 1.5 minutes.

If I try to clean up Series Manager and cancel a series in Series Manager (like old canceled shows no longer on air), 8 of 10 times my box chokes and the box is reset. Normal? Do I need a new box to fix this?

Something sounds "fishy" to me.

DVR model? IPG?

With that kind of behavior, it does sound like it could be a defective DVR. A DVR rebooting itself with no signal-related cause (and your signals all show in the green) is often like the cable equivalent of Windows' Blue Screen, with hard drive and memory failures being common causes in older units.

Cox support came to my home today. Tech Juan was wonderful, and swapped out my 2 DVR boxes (the one that reboots when trying to cancel series manager recording, and takes forever to cancel programs) and the other which was not updating the Guide properly. One box showed a show, the other box showed another show, so the user of the second box could not set record unless I rebooted the box to get the updated Guide. Hopefully the new boxes will solve the problems. Juan also checked my outside connections and said some were old so he replaced them. Great guy, great service, very personable, very knowledgeable. Thanks Juan and Cox! Now, on to reprogram my scheduled recordings! :-)
