Is there a way to show series not scheduled for recording in the Contour dvr?

This summer we "upgraded" from a DCT6416 to a 2 tuner Cisco dvr with the Contour guide.  I am trying to schedule our fall series and ran into a concern.  If 3 or more series were scheduled at the same time, the 6416 would flag the series not scheduled on both the guide and scheduled recordings screen.  The Contour guide doesn't give any indication something will be missed.  It indicates what is scheduled for recording but doesn't flag the items it can't schedule.  This is a feature I used to allow me to manually adjust our priorities.

Am I missing something?  Is there a way to view items it knows it can't record?  Phone support told me they would show up in missed recordings but that is after the fact.  Telling me I missed it after I already did is kind of useless.

Thanks,

I know what you mean. On the Passport (pre-Countour/Trio) guide, you could go to scheduled recordings and see the no-smoking sign next to anything that cannot be recorded. You could then make arrangements or change the priority of your series recording.

Contour has no such feature to indicate future recording conflicts.

It does, but not in Series Recordings.

On a 2-tuner DVR, if you schedule two recordings for the same time-slot, Contour will give you an alert with options if you try to schedule a third program in the same time-slot. It's a blue "pop-up" screen in the lower right.

...and that's not what this thread is about.

Passport would indicate at a glance which future recordings (manual or series) would be unable to record. Trio/Contour doesn't. Horrible.

I feel bad for the 2-tuner Contour DVR customers who will be hit hard once the Fall TV season starts up. At least with 6 tuners, it's a lot less likely but still you want to be sure your priority ranks are set up since Contour won't tell you in advance when a conflict exists on series recordings.

Thanks, ATPTourFan, you took the words right out of my mouth.  The Contour guide is a big step backwards.  What designer in his/her right mind would design a system where it tells you after the fact you missed something but not give you a tool to be proactive??  I just wonder if the people designing these things ever really use them.  End of rant

I will make it work but wish there was a way to go back to the old Passport guide.

Contour won't let you schedule the conflicts in the first place. Nothing to report.

{As I noted above, this is not for series recording. I rarely, if ever, schedule series recordings, so I'm not familiar with that process.}

It will if you have series scheduled and they run in the same time period.  It just won't tell you a series won't record until after the fact.

If you are not familiar with a process why are you commenting on it?  I didn't mean to start a flame war ... just wanted to see if anyone knows of a work-a-round.

I'm commenting on it because I wrote that Contour guarded against scheduling too many programs at the same time except in Series Recordings, and you responded "I'll bite ... how ... where???" So I told you how & where, just as you asked.

Why are we even having this discussion?  The title of the thread says: "Is there a way to show series not scheduled for recording in the Contour dvr?", you reply  "except in Series Recordings".   We are talking about two different things.

I'll repeat:

That's why we're having this discussion.
