Lost your setting for Internet Explorer or Internet Protocol? I think you meant properties for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). If not, you need to be more specific of where in your Control Panel you're trying to configure.
If you right-click your Network icon (near your clock) and select Status, you should be able to view any addresses. Click Properties...highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)...click Properties...and there should be no IP Addresses entered. Everything should be set to automatic.
Or maybe you lost your connection to your network. If you didn't make any changes to your network BEFORE losing your Internet Explorer, try rebooting your computer first so it can reestablish your connect. If that doesn't work, try rebooting your router. Nothing? Try unplugging your modem for a minute.

Power everything down, your modem, router (if separate from modem) and computer. Let sit powered off for a couple of minutes. Power back up in this order, wait a minute between each device:
1. Modem
2. Router (if separate)
3. Computer
Let us know if this helps. If not, please provide more details on your issue, what exactly do you have to reenter into control panel? What web address are you talking about?
