You can't. Cox doesn't use the ethernet on cable boxes. To get internet you need a modem.

The Ethernet port on the 4742HDC is not active. What are you trying to connect?

I have an old PC with Windows 8 that I upgraded to Windows 10. For some reason the wifi no longer works. I did a lot of research and this happens sometimes. I can still get to the internet with an Ethernet connection from my main modem box and I noticed that the Contour box had an Ethernet output so I thought maybe I could get it from that.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Probably the wireless NIC drivers. What model PC or laptop is it? Might be able to dig them up on their support site.

While you're looking into the wifi driver issues as suggested you may be overthinking the Ethernet connection a bit. You can plug the Ethernet into the cable modem for wired connectivity to the Internet.
