I have a new laptop computer. I continuously had difficulty connecting to the internet. When I check my wi-fi connection, it says limited connection. I check my data usage and its at 9percent. contacted support and they did something that connected me at the time but still have periods of not being able to connect. Upgraded my internet and am renting the modem from Cox but problem continues. Oh and I can sometimes connect on my ipad but not on my laptop. What does the limited connection mean?

Do you have any wired connections? If so, do those drop when the wireless does?
Also, what model gateway do you have? Do you know how it is configured?
Limited connection means you have a connection to the router, but the router isn't providing a internet connection. This can be for many reasons. With wireless computers, it is common for it to be caused by a issue with the security used to encrypt the Wifi. If it is effecting wired too then, then it could be a issue with the modem in the gateway and it's connection to Cox.
