Intermittent packet loss

Its been an ongoing issue for months now. The Internet will randomly cut out for about 10-15 seconds and then return.

I was able to run a ping during the most recent cut out. The modem light never goes out as if there is no issue.

I ping the router during it as well and it had no issues. This is very annoying and any help would be appreciated.

The packet loss showing on the one result would not be the modem reseting but either priority with the packets or latency/loss in general. If you are not seeing it to the router its more then likely beyond it either with the modem or further out. Though 4 results are not a very accurate test. If you try pinging some of those Ip addresses or websites with "ping (IP or URL) -t" and letting it run for 100 or so times we can get a more accurate idea of how bad the packet loss is.

I was able to get this one. Its so sporadic, It will work perfect for the majority of the time and then this happens way too often though. Thank you for your assistance.

The latency/ping times not spiking makes it seem like its the prioritization dropping the packets rather then actual packet loss from the physical connection. If you run a "tracert  68.99.123.161" without the quotes. What are the results you get from it? And do you get similar results from non Cox Ip addresses as well when you ping them for longer periods then the default 4 attempts?

Yes, I also ping google.com and it has similar results. Here is the tracert for the cox ip.

When I look from this end I'm actually seeing some unstability in the upstream channels being reported back by the modem.  By chance are there any splitters you could try removing from the coax cabling?  I'd also suggest checking for loose/damaged cable fittings and cable.

Here is a picture of the only splitter and fittings in the line before the modem. Also after the splitter, I replaced that cable about a month ago just to see if that would fix it. I wasn't sure to remove the splitter or not, I don't know if those db ratings have importance. What would you suggest doing?

The splitter is doing nothing but adding to the fray, drop it and the extra cable, connect the grey cable to the black one at that coupler. It may not improve things if there are upstream problems but it just doesn't need to be there at all. You can add one later if needed after the issues are corrected.

I thought it was odd, but that is how the technician left it. I will take care of it tomorrow and see if it helps. Thanks.

Ok, the splitter has been removed and I attached it directly to the coupling. Im still experiencing the same problem. Where do I go from here?
