Installation

I just recently moved into my apartment, and being fairly computer savvy I was going to pick up and install my own internet. I received a call and was told they had to send someone out to install because my unit hadn't been using cable in a while. I was NOT informed that I was going to be charged the extra for installation. Is there any way around this? I am really struggling for money right now and it is hardly fair that I did not get the choice.

We're more than happy to offer self-installation options in most cases however two in particular that come to mind where this is not available would be if there is satellite TV or if the residence hasn't had service for more than 6 months.  In either of these cases installations are more prone to problems therefore we require a technician come out and certify that everything is wired correctly and/or make any necessary changes.

So I have to pay for the required technician? There is no way around that? I do not mean to sound like a whiner, but that seems really unfair.

I can appreciate where you're coming from.  There is however and expense for the technician to come out.  The charges for professional installation are in place to help cover that expense.
