How do I change the Caller ID that COX uses for Cox Phone Customers?

I have COX Internet and TV services. I do not have COX's telephone service. I am a Vonage customer and have been for years.

My Vonage phone number has my Caller ID set correctly as my Lastname, FI

If I call my cell phone (Sprint) the caller id is displayed correctly.

If I call someone with the COX phone service it comes up with a different name: G ESPINOZA. I am not G ESPINOZA.

In researching this problem, it appears that different telephone providers pull the caller id from other databases and don't always use the value that is transmitted with the call. So it appears that Cox is pulling the name from a Caller ID database that does not reflect the correct name for my phone number. Who do I contact to verify this? How can this be corrected? My neighbors are confused as my name does not appear when I call them

Normally it is the case that the source phone provider is responsible for transmitting the correct CID data.  Is this a new phone number you have by chance?

You may want to call Cox and ask them to check the Targus(now Neustar) database. The problem is there is no way for Cox to confirm you are indeed the true owner of the number(since they don't own it), atleast I don't think there is a procedure for such. Thats why usually any problem needs to start with your phone provider. If their Test Desk (or equivilent) cant fix it then it would be up to them to escalate it to Cox.

You can also try calling them direct @ +1-855-638-2677.

I had this problem with my cellphone (Verizon).  I did not want my name showing up, (just City, State) and it did not show up except when calling a Cox phone subscriber.

I called Cox and Cox immediately took my Name out of their database,  I called my home phone and It immediately showed only the City, and State again.

Removing information (especailly if it can be confirmed with the number provider) is different then changing information. It still comes down to how can Cox confirm you are the owner of that number?
