Experiencing Packet loss (Very Frequent Lag Spikes)

About 2 times a minute a lag spike for 5-10 seconds ( 2% packet loss) . I've done a full restart.

The SEC is on ESPN3, and I thought that might be the problem...  But people wouldn't be watching right now.  What gives?  It always seems to be something.... So go ahead, give me the run around and show me the hoops I have to jump through, because I expect you to try to pin this on the client, like usual.

Thank you for choosing Cox Communications. A representative will be with you shortly.

You are now chatting with 'Carlos D.'.

Carlos D.: We have not heard from you for some time.  Do you wish to continue to chat?

Brandon: This is the first time I've heard from you...

Brandon: But basically, my question is pretty simple. Is there a known issue in my area? Over the last 2 days I've been experiencing packet loss.

Brandon: Hello...?

If you're having a problem with lag spikes, an online chat in real-time may not be an ideal way to try to troubleshoot it.

However, we can pull up your modem based on your forum info, and we can see that you have a huge number of T3 timeouts, which indicates interference in the line, usually on the return frequencies from the modem back to our system. One of your DVRs has a low signal-to-noise on the data channel, so there may be a problem with a splitter or amplifier somewhere in your home. There could also be a problem on the outside.

I would recommend checking any cables you have access to for damaged or loose connectors-if a connection is even 1/4 turn less than finger-tight, it can allow ingress/loss. If you don't find any loose or damaged wiring, or checking the wires doesn't improve the connection stability, then it's time for a service call.
