I am having a few of my contacts who have gmail email accounts refuse to send emails to my cox email address because gmail is indicating that my (and most likely all) cox emails are not encrypted. What gives? This is not acceptable and needs to be fixed ASAP! My incoming pop email is set to SSL on port 995 and my outgoing cox is set to TLS on 587. So are emails encrypted or not?

I've not heard any issues with encryption and I am able to send between my gmail and Cox email accounts without any error messages. Are you able to provide the exact message your contacts are seeing?

Cox just updated the look of Cox email, but didnt add encryption.
Learn more:
Email encryption in transit
S/MIME is used to support enhanced encryption in transit, and automatically encrypts your outgoing emails if it can.
Note: These steps only work if you have S/MIME enabled on your account.
Check if a message you're sending is encrypted
Check if a message you received is encrypted
What the encryption icons mean
When you're sending or receiving messages, you can see the level of encryption a message has. The color of the icon will change based on the level of encryption.
I see the red lock icon
If you're writing a message and see the red lock icon, consider removing these addresses or deleting the confidential information. To see which address is unencrypted, click View Details.
If you received a message with the red lock icon and the message contained particularly sensitive content, let the sender know and they can contact their email service provider.

I am having the same problem. I have contacted Cox via email and by phone. There should be an open trouble ticket at least that is what I was told.
I am having problems getting ads from JC Penney. I am no longer getting confirmation emails regarding my orders. I am not getting house listing emails with houses listed either. I am told that my server has refused the emails.
My husband sends me cute little pics he finds at google plus. They come through with a little square at the top of the page. A place holder. When I try to forward an email from gmail to cox that has a picture embedded, I get a message telling me that there is a problem sending to the recipient. Help. Fix this please. I DID like my Cox email, not so sure now!

I am having the same issue. Any time I receive an email from a cox.net email, or I go to send one, there is a red lock that says Cox emails are not encrypted. If you send an attachment to a Cox recipient from gmail, they will never receive it and you don't receive an error message saying that it was not sent. So where did it go? Are they being intercepted by prying eyes? I called Cox and sent a representative an email from my gmail account. He finally received it but my email to him said it was not encrypted and the one I received from him said it was not encrypted. The representative said that this was a gmail problem but Cox is the only email provider that this is happening with so I doubt that it is gmail falsely claiming that Cox emails are not encrypted.

Having concerns along the same lines.
cox.net emails are not encrypted? See screen capture:
Why doesn't cox support even basic encryption for inbound / outbound email traffic?
Also, some recipients are advising that cox emails are being filtered as spam. See screen capture:
What has changed with cox email to have cox.net filtered as spam now?
