I have been getting a "wrong password" notification since noon today on both my iphone and my ipad. On vacation so no access to my computer. Cannot get any email. Called support and was told it was a service outage but I see nothing on the website or anywhere about any outage. Does anyone else have an email outage on Feb 18, 2014?

I doubt there is any outage. You probably got CGS or what ever group they are contracting phone support to these days.
If its giving you a password error its possible someone changed the password while you away? Either way you should be able to access your email from webmail.cox.net. If that site gives a password error too, you need to reset your password.

Yes same problem here. Actually my main account (billing, support, everything) was reset so I couldn't login to work on my email accounts. I called support who said 40k accounts were reset. Tech support reset my main account and all was working until 2 hours later in which my main e-mail was not accepting the password once again. I went into e-mail tools and rest my password and it started then working then 3 hours later, same problem, same fix. Very bizzare it's only my main e-mail account is effected, all other accounts no problem.

Interesting. Did they say why? I checked my accounts and none of my passwords were changed. Able to check them via webmail and Thunderbird. Thanks for the info. Wonder why it hasn't come up on any of the other forums I am on.

The password problem at Cox is real, but I've been told Cox isn't having any problems. My Cox password (webmail & POP) isn't working for me on any device. Reset it yesterday from cox.net, but the problem returned again this morning. Clearly something is wrong at Cox.
Also very frustrating, to get Cox help you must log in, but if your password doesn't work... Tried @CoxHelp on Twitter, no reply. The only way I could get a response was asking on the Cox Facebook page (!), who told me Cox isn't having a problem (ignorance or denial), just reset your password. I hope they recognize the problem and get it fixed. This is frustrating.

Could you guys post which state your having the issue in? I wonder if its a problem with the authenticator system or a security issue, like Cox saw a bunch of accounts pop up in one of their honeypots (think spam mouse trap) so reset their passwords.
Also, do any of you have yahoo accounts? There was a big breach of security there last week and I wonder if that could have carried over.
If others are having similar issues, please post.

I have four email accounts that are configured in my Outlook client. Only one of those accounts is experiencing the 'wrong password' issue. I called Cox Support and they have a recorded message as soon as they answer about resetting your password, so clearly it's widespread.
I reset the password for that one account. It worked once and then began prompting for the password in Outlook again. Odd thing is that I can log onto Cox's website and the password works just fine there.

I stand corrected. Looks like there is some kind of email issue. Teeeroy, what state/area are you from? what ever your comfortable giving. If the issue isn't localized, its probably a mass password change.

I'm in Oklahoma. But to provide an update, I went in and reset my password for a second time and it seems to be working...for now.

How do we convince Cox they have a problem that needs attention? Until they recognize the issue, no one will fix it.
I'm starting to suspect Cox had a security breach. This seems like cleanup behavior.

Well this post is less then 24hr old. Lets give a Cox moderator a chance to respond. It doesn't seem like Cox is hiding anything, otherwise why put very public message up? Though I don't disagree with your hunch. Between this thread and a couple about spam being sent from people's Cox email..something seems up.

Did you by any chance use one of your previous passwords when you did the reset? It sounds like your password was compromised and the password changed. If you reset it back to what it was you would have been compromised and locked out again.
