E- Mail Not the end of the world

Cox has been telling us they are working round the clock to fix this, I am a small business owner and this is inconvenient but not the end of the world.  If you have email you most likely have a smart phone, perhaps some kind of tablet and many other items with other emails you can use, it is only a matter of calling , texting or using an alternate email to someone be it the airline or a customer or a friend an telling them not to use cox right now, remember you are not unique with the problem right now.   Cox is big enough that they will fix this and our lives will go on. Big problems take time and we want them to do it right.     E Mail is only a convenience.

Sure it is not the end of the world and they may be working around the clock; however, it's still a service that we pay for and I've heard everything except that our accounts will be credited for this seemingly enormous problem.  Perhaps sir or maam, you can afford to pay for services and not care wether or not you receive them, but the majority of us cannot.  I must say that your comment is spoken like a true Cox employee, relative of an employee, or perhaps a stock holder!

I am busy praying for the loss of 20 children and 6 adults in Conn., I live in Tornado country, who would you sue if you lost service to a Tornado, Hurricane, Flood, Earthquake or crazy person with a gun?  Be thankfull for what you have,

You're right, Windsprite, that in the scale of things this is not that bad, but I and others do not have a smart phone or a tablet or "many other items with other emails."  I got gmail up on my pc, but if Cox Internet service were not working, I would have zero connectivity in terms of email and the web.  So much for Christmas shopping, email Christmas greetings, end of year financial organizing, etc.

Truely a Cox employee.. I've missed several Very important emails as I use cox as my primary email provider(changing that now!..). It will be interesting to see if we get credited on our bills and even more if they'll be responsible for the bills due to our creditor because of " email is only a convienence" ! Pissed!

Windsprite - - Unfortunately, telling us that losing e-mail is "not the end of the world" is an absolute nitwit quote to put on a support forum where people are trying to find out information about their e-mail service. We are not watching CNN to see the trajedy in Newton, CT. but thank you for your judgemental opinion.

You are kidding, right?  I don't know about you, but I use the same email address for all of muy platforms, be it smart phone or tablet.  None of them are receiving email.

Pretty tough to respond to folks using text message if I don't know they're reaching out to me, which is impossible without email.

Cox's public attitude is, "We're doing our best . . . . sorry 'bout that."  About the same level of intensity I'd expect from a waitress mixing up a breakfast order.  Very reminiscent of Pepco, until they got the bejesus beat out of them.

Cox is not nearly apologetic enough.  I expect to see a service credit for the lost availability of email.  I'd also like to see the CEO's face or at least his name on their updates - right now, the updates seem to be written by the PR department.  Idon't think the CEO gives a ***.

Frustrated

If you were so busy praying for those victims in Connecticut, you would not have been posting sarcastic remarks on this forum.  I didn't read about anybody suing anyone, daaaaa!  And for sure this is my last remark to you 'cause you're not worth my time.

Why does Windsprite use dead kids to support his opinion?  Sounds like a self-righteous, dim-witted drama queen.

Wrong...Sounds to me like you are a Cox employee. I don't have any other options, as you suggest a smart phone, tablet, etc. And, by phone, if you can't get the caller to answer since all is automated......you still get no results or answers. Cox won't even reply to any!!!

We use our Cox email account for all of our internet business. My wife and I sell many different products over the internet using different URLs.

Up until now It has worked by having emails for orders fowarded to our Cox email account. I have no idea how many orders we have not processed because of this mess.

The news from Connecticut is more than sad but it shouldn't be talked about here. This is for us that are losing money every minute because Cox can't seem to repair whatever the problem is. This has gone on far to long. I think Cox should have been sending us emails as to what has happened and how long it is going to take; OH!! thats right they can't send us emails or at lease we can't get them.

Has our Personal information been compromised? Have emails been lost or will they all be coming at the end of this? I have read the alerts but just do not see any answers. I would think someone from cox would join in on these threads with some response to us.

I agree that email is not the end of the world.  We got along fine without email for years.  But in today's environment email becomes almost a necessity. I am on the Board of a condominium and use email to send the minutes of our meetings to other members to help me proof them.  Also our President emails us updates.  I don't have any of the other items that you mentioned.  I don't even get email on my cell phone.  I am retired and live on a limited budget.  But in the big scheme of things not have cox email is a minor inconvienience.  I have never lost a baby due to a madman's shooting up a school.

What they have to do by contract and what they should do to keep us as customers are different things. Sometimes doing what is right and fair makes better business practice. Do you lose by crediting a token amount or do you lose customers?

you're right, silly us...wonder what all the hackers are busy getting off of our account information! grrrrr! Certainly the lives of the people in CT are of more importance than emails. Let's compare apples with apples. Email communication is important to email communicators. And, it has nothing to do with the tragedy in CT. That would be comparing apples to oranges.  I have missed incredibly important emails relating to family, school and business. Cox has been our choice for YEARS and we've been pleased. Let's give them a break and hope they get it back up soon. It is valid to be upset over it. And it is NOT valid to compare it to the tragedy in CT. Focus, people.
