DVR occasionally cuts off recording early
I've had a recurring problem for a while. We have an SA8300HD DVR with a WD DVR expander...have had this setup with these same components for several years. Typically the DVR is at 70-80% used capacity. At least once or twice a week, we'll have a recording that will stop well before the scheduled end time....it may be 6 minutes before, it may be 20 minutes before (or even much earlier in the case of 90-minute or 2-hour programs). My initial thought was that there were possibly bad sectors on the hard drive that were being hit, causing the recording to stop? But while it's not a completely predictable issue, I've noticed that some programs are more prone to this than others. For instance, for the past 2 weeks (and at other times before), Saturday Night Live has stopped recording early (last week about an hour in, and the week before it only got to a half-hour before stopping). There have been two or three other programs that have ended early multiple times. This makes me wonder if there is something in the coding of these listings that is sending incorrect information to the DVR? In any case, it's getting quite annoying (if any episode of the Walking Dead cuts off early, my wife will kill me).

Have you tried emptying your Lost & Found file? Those 100 programs don't show up on your usage bar-graph, but take up a bunch of drive space (which is limited on a 8300.)

I'm having the exact same problem. The last two new episodes of SNL stopped recording at 11:24, instead of the scheduled end time. The DVR list even shows the end time in yellow, indicating it "knows" that it stopped at the wrong time.
I have plenty of room on my DVR and nothing strange is showing in the Lost and Found (I can't delete Lost and Found, BTW so not sure what the poster above was suggesting...)
Is there any resolution to this??

I have same problem using TIVO and Cox tuner. Programs end early for no reason and no pattern I can tell.

To permanently delete a program from the Lost & Found screen:
1. On the Lost & Found screen, press the up or down arrow to highlight the
show that you want to delete, then press SELECT.
Passport Guide DVR displays the Lost & Found Options menu, which may
include the following options, depending on the context:
— Save until space is needed
— Save until manually erased
— Clear show now
— Clear recording now
— List upcoming shows
2. Press the up or down arrow to highlight Clear recording now or Clear show
now, then press SELECT.
Passport Guide DVR permanently deletes the program title from the Lost &
Found screen, and the associated video asset from the hard disk (if it was
available).
Anyone with 100 recordings in Lost & Found should clean out Lost & Found (like "Trash" in Windows.)

It is quite interesting that several of you specifically mention SNL. From what I can tell, you are all in the Phoenix area, and you have different types of DVR equipment. There could be some kind of coding issue with the Guide causing your recordings of SNL to cut off early. Can you provide examples of other shows or recordings that have cut off prior to the end of the scheduled program time? Please provide the show air time (per the Guide) and the time that the recording stops.
