I am having an issue with my signal being dropped from my modem up to 4 times per hour. I am also maxing out on speed testing at 32 mbps where my plan is for 50.
I used the online chat support and was told i had a weak signal level. The rep sent a signal to my modem, it reset, but the speeds remain the same.
Are there other options to correct these issues?
Thanks.

I live in Las Vegas and am having the same issues.
I have tried to reset the modom by unpluging it for 10 min - but the service keeps going out.

I live in Las Vegas as well and suffer upload speeds constantly throughout the day. Maybe only 1 or 2 hours in the whole day are the speeds ok. The rest of the time I feel like dialup would be faster.

The transmit power level being reported by the modem do appear to be a bit out of spec on the low end which may require a technician to come out and troubleshoot further. As for being stuck at 32Mbps that sounds more like you have an older wireless-G router hooked up. If that is the case try testing without the router and see if speeds directly from the modem are any better.

I looked at your modem and everything appears as it should be from this end. Are you able to try testing without the router to see if that helps the connection any?

Testing from directly from the modem shows speeds at 50. I think it was my connection through a vonage device that was slowing it down. I changed the wiring and it seems much better now, including wireless.
I am using a linksys E3000 router.

You'll naturally need to check with Vonage for their recommendations but I think in your situation it may work out better to find a way to connect the Vonage adapter to the router like a PC instead of having your Internet connect through it.

You can test the speeds online through any speed test site, the most accurate will be from sites with a server close by however for the total result. We do offer a speed test through the Cox.net site as well that can be found here.

I don't like speedtests that only test a server close to you. It's highly likely that a server closest to you will show you higher speeds versus a server that is a little farther away. Since the internet is world wide, trusting speed off of a test that runs from a server close to you is not something that you should rely on.
Rather take note of several speed test websites and choose other servers and compile a list and see what you get. Do not trust just the one site.

how do you test without the router?
BTW I have a netgear N300 router - worked perfect until a bit after the "double the speed" thing

To test without the router you would need to connect a PC directly to the cable modem using an ethernet cable. The modem has to be reset after disconnecting the router so it will be able to acquire an IP address for the computer.

I can help you with the connection issues that you're having, I am sorry to hear that it has been so much trouble. What speeds are you getting when you run tests? Are you connected to a wireless router? We can check the modem signal from our end to see if there are any issues that may be obvious to us. Please send an email to cox.help@cox.com, including the name and address listed on the account. We'll get this figured out!
