Direct connection to "cable ready" TV?
My Samsung FP-T6374 TV manual says it is "cable-ready" and described alternative ways to connect the cable to the TV.
One way is to just plug the coax cable into the TV directly; the other is to connect the incoming coax to the Cox-supplied Cisco cable box, and then connect the Cisco box to the TV with another piece of coax.
Samsung's manual says the correct way depends on whether the cable signals are coming in decoded or need to be decoded by the (Cisco) cable box.
How can I tell which way to go?
Thanks!

At this time a direct connection to the TV will pick up many of the TV Starter and TV Essential channels. Once your market migrates to all digital service however a box will be required.

Neither, the Samsung manual for that TV says it has 2 hdmi inputs. I assume your Cox supplied Cisco STB also has hdmi output. I would connect the cable to the Cisco STB then the STB to your TV via hdmi. As Chris posted, you may get basic channels with a direct connection today but as soon as Cox goes all digital in your market you need a set-top-box. An hdmi connection from the STB will give you the best possible picture quality.
