Hi! I would like to have the censorship of foul language deactivated in all my cable channels. I don't want to hear the "bleep" sound again. How this can be done? I have changed 2 cable boxes (COX helpdesk told me it might be a cable box issue) and the censorship is still active. I checked all the settings of my remote and I didn't find any option related with this issue. Can someone suggest some hints for resolving this annoying problem?

I've never heard of the box being able to do this. What programming are you experiencing this issue with?

When I chatted with helpdesk about this problem they told me that a technician will visit me in order to configure the cable box. When he came he told me that he cannot do anything about the "bleep" issue and my only option is to change the cable box. I did that and the problem remains. This problem affect all channels. To mention a few when I watch Hardcore Pawn (Channel 760) or Dog the Bounty Hunter (I don't recall the channel nr) I hear always "bleep" when someone curse. How could be deactivated the censorship setting permanently? I want to watch my programs uncensored,

I don't think it is the cable box doing this. The channels you are watching are probably doing this. I can remember a lot of bleeping when watching "Orange County Choppers."
Hope this helps.

I understand that the cable box is not responsible for the "bleep". Can someone from COX give me an answer on how the programs can be "unfiltered" without any kind of censorship in the dialogues or the captions? There must be a way!

Other than selecting the channels they provide for us, Cox has limited control of what is presented. If the source of the program has profanity bleeped, there is nothing Cox can do to remove the bleeping.
You can write to the source of the program and ask them to remove the bleeping, but it is probably a hopeless request. The only channels that don't bleep the profanity are the Premium Movie Channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, etc.)
Good luck!

Like k5wlr has suggested, it's not Cox that is doing this. The networks that air the programming will determine whether to censor programming or not depending on the channel and intended audience. This is why I was wondering what channel/programming you were watching. Networks such as HBO, Cinemax, Shotime, etc. are premium networks and will usually air uncensored content. Over the air networks for example more often than not will choose to censor programming to make it appropriate for wider audience viewing. This is not something the viewer or cable provider can control.

I understand. Thank you so much for your answers! I discovered that the "bleeping" cannot be avoided since it's a federal law (effective between 06:00am-10:00pm local time): http://www.fcc.gov/guides/obscenity-indecency-and-profanity :(
