DCX-3200-m Frequent reboot/reloading

For the last couple of weeks my STB (Motorola DCX-3200-m) has been going into a reload/reboot mode multiple times per day. Sometimes it operates properly for most of the day and then, at other times it will reload ~ 5-6 times in a row. The unit works fine when it is not reloading and prior to now it has been working fine for over a year. The front display will also occasionally display a 1008 message at the start of the reload process. I have removed the power to the unit and plugged it back in to see if doing that would help but it doesn't seem to change anything. Is the change to all digital TV possibly related to my problem? I also have Cox internet and phone and those services are working fine. (the internet is solid as a rock).  No changes have been made to my entertainment/home network in the last year. Is there something going on with my STB?

Thanks... BB in Tulsa

I suggest checking all the connections, from the wall to the cable box, from the cable box to the tv, making sure they are all tight. Also, check the power cord. If there are any cable  splitters, check them as well. if there are no loose connections, you may want to consider replacing the receiver.

We've been fighting this for weeks in S Tulsa. Getting tired and angry. We changed out absolutely everything, including rewiring coax under the house. Changed out the dcs3200 box itself, with no help. Oddly, the box worked okay during M-F weekdays daytime. However, it begins reloading constantly from about 4:30PM on. It was also reloading all day, all night, on weekends. Finally moved new box to another TV set in a bedroom. Both sets are Samsung HD. The trouble MOVED WITH the cable box to the other set.. Changed out the DCX3200 box for a second time, also changing out the power supply just in case, and everything worked fine. For two days... Now the picture has begin freezing, then going black. It also intermittently has no sound. This mostly happens while viewing on-demand. I can recover it by turning off the DCX3200 with my remote, then turning it back on. This lasts for 5 to 10 minutes. Then it freezes again. My only suggestion is to bang on COX's door and demand a replacement DCS3200. If that doesn't fix it, bang on COX's door again. Replace the cable box again. They appear to have a RUN of defective DCX3200 cable boxes on their shelves.

The problem continues.............

Since I got home from work (~5:45pm  )  the STB has been almost continuously been rebooting/reloading. Yes, I have checked the connections (just in case they have spontaneously loosened). The STB is now throwing a 1010 error when it reboots/reloads.  I unplugged everything from the STB at ~7:30pm because I was getting VERY annoyed.  The wiring in the house is the best Beldon rg/6 with compression fittings that were installed by myself ( I know what I am doing as I have been doing it for over 20 yrs.). The internet works fine and I am now streaming the evenings entertainment. I will wait until the morning to plug everything back in and try it. It's sort of weird that all of this has stared when Cox went to "All Digital" Tv at he beginning of the month. The coincidence that the STB went bad at almost exactly the same time... ummmm. Odd... I have no idea how many others are having the same issue. I really don't want to pay for something that is not functioning and from the other post, I may not be the only one..... Well, for now, it's back to steaming from the net...

rwbrown1,

Is the cable straight from the wall to the receiver or is there a splitter? If so, please bypass the splitter. If there isn't, I suggest swapping the ends of the cable. Let me know if the issue continues.

I bypassed the splitter and ran the STB directly to the wall using the cable that was going to the DOCSIS-3 modem (the phone/inet is working fine). The problem is still occuring.

Email to cox.help sent..............
