Cox modem activation
I just picked up my updated modem from Cox. I went on line to activate it and the model isn't on the list. I can't call because I have no phone service until my modem is activated. I tried to reach a live chat and it keeps saying all agents are busy. How do I get this new modem activated?

Oh I should add there was a spot that said "Modem not on the list". When i clicked the question mark, it said that if it's not on the list it's not compatible with Cox. Well that's crazy, because I just got it from Cox!

What model modem is it? The self install system is kind of buggy, especially with new models. Try calling them up and having it add it manually?

My Cox modem isn't on the activation list,
I was able to locate your account. Since that's a phone modem, self activation may be a little different. Typically these are professionally installed. What port did you plug the telephone cord into on the back? I suggest trying the other telephone port (there are 2) and it looks like you're set to be using the port labeled 2 as in the diagram below.

The most common cause of a telephone modem not working with a self install is if it's missing the "telephone occurrence". Basically the modem doesn't know it has telephone service on it. This has to be corrected by someone at Cox if it occurs.
Also, was this a swap or a new install? If it's a new install, there could be a whole other, more complex problem.
