Contour sometimes gives me a warning of when it will malfunction

Normally when i turn on my tv, i see a television show in progress.  Occasionally i see large block letters spelling C O N T O U R with 3 "loading" blocks ■■■ underneath the CONTOUR.  It only stays on-screen for 3-5 seconds before disappearing. Not an exact replica of what appears when you reboot the DVR which has 8 or 9 loading "blocks" which show you when the reboot will be complete.

Once i see this CONTOUR appear, it is likely that the DVR will fail to record shows i have chosen. Not all of them but more than one. I now reboot as soon as i see CONTOUR appear.

Has anyone else seen this?  I have the older Contour 1 box Cisco 9865.  It has lots of quirks but generally works well.

yak,

Are you finding the 3 bars as the receiver is powering on as well as the TV? Do you find a receiver error when attempting to playback a saved recording, and is this recording trouble happening on a particular series or channel?

The CONTOUR is superimposed on the tv program. It only last for a short time. Not long enuf to see any "loading".  I just see the 3 blocks which resemble the loading screen which appears when i reboot the DVR.

I turn on the tv first and then the DVR.  The tv show is on-screen and CONTOUR appears immediately.

I do not get a "receiver error".  What tends to happen is that i will attempt to play back a Recorded Show and i will get a notice that i should attempt the playback at a later time or call Cox at 888--------.   My only option is to press the yellow triangle A button to leave that screen.  No matter how many times i "later" try to play back the program, it won't play.

The trouble is not happening on a particular series or channel.

But when i get the CONTOUR logo, it's time to reboot.

yak,

Is this happening often, or at random intermittent times? Let us know if this returns, as the receiver has an online time of 9 days.
