Connecting a FAX Machine

I have just acquired an Epson WF-7520 All-In-One and want to connect the FAX to my Cox provided Phone line. The directions indicate that the FAX machine (located on the 2nd floor) be connect before the answering machine (located on the 1st floor). Currently the connection is the cable input to the modem then the telephone connect to the wall outlet to feed the telephone jacks throughout the house. It appears that to connect the FAX machine I need to change the connect as follows: modem telephone output to the FAX machine input (LINE) and the connect the FAX machine output (EXT) port to the wall to feed the rest of the house. Is the COX telephone feature with this type FAX setup? Dadtief
