Can't cancel a scheduled series recording on Cisco 8965 Record 6 Box
I have the Record 6, Cisco 8965 Rev 3.5 4/9/14
I am unable to cancel a series recording. I have spoken to cox phone support, and have had technicians out twice.
I am now on my THIRD 8965, ALL with the same problem. The technician who was out to the house last, also tried
every way he knew, but was similarly unable to cancel a series recording. He installed a third box but it has the same problem.
I tried three methods.
Method 1
DVR LIST
Series Manager - Right Arrow
Select the program I want to work with, -Right Arrow
Down arrow to CANCEL SERIES RECORDING - Select
Nothing happens
Method 2
DVR LIST
Scheduled Recordings
Select the program
Select Cancel - Nothing happens.
Method 3
Go to program guide to the future program I want to cancel.
Select the program
Select cancel
Nothing happens.
I now have programs scheduled to record that I cannot stop from recording.
When I was on the phone with COX TV Tech support (Atlanta?) he was telling me that
when I select cancel the series, I should get a screen asking if I am sure I want to cancel.
I do not get any such screen. I tried it from all the available user profiles.
Still unable to cancel a series recording.
I think this is a system wide problem with the boxes that Cox is installing.
I think CISCO should be tasked to work on the problem with the users, and Cox.
SOMEONE Please help. Having the box recording programs I don't want is a big problem.
The box should work the way it is designed to work.

A) There is no Cisco 8965 DVR. Do you perhaps mean a Cisco 9865HDC ??
B) I have never seen this failure before. Do you have a WHDVR system? And, if so, are you attempting to do this at the host DVR, or at a client.
Series recording cancellation is a function of the software (Contour), not the hardware (the DVR.) I have tested my 8642HDC and my neighbor's 9865HDC, and they both cancel series programs just fine. Methinks you are leaving out an important detail.
With the hundreds of complaints about the 9865HDC and Contour, none have been the same as yours. Hmm...

I am experiencing the exact same issue described by vegashiker. I have tried all the above mentioned was to remove/delete series This system was installed yesterday. I discovered the problem shortly after the install guy left. We have one client cox along with the main dvr6 contour box. Both box experience the same issue. Neither one can cancle or delete series recordings. Also, the "Delete Series Program" under "Cancle Series Programs" when highlighted says this function is currently unavailable . Delete Series Program is not a selectable opotion (subdued) on the menu.

You will need to confirm in order to delete the series. I suggest following the steps again and when you get to the last step, where you should be getting the confirmation, cycle through the HD Zoom option on the TV.

Are you watching a recording when you try to delete the series? Are you deleting from the host DVR or a client receiver?

The original poster has a different problem from what I understand. They are not getting any message after choosing the cancel option. That is why I suggested the HD Zoom option. I've had other customers who's picture was zoomed in and too far and couldn't see the options on the bottom of the screen.
I can reset the receiver from here to see if it resolved this issue. When's a good time for the reset?

I've power cycle the dvr a couple of times. If you're going to reset this device do it after 11pm please. Thank you for your replies and follow up. I will let you know what the status of the device is tomorrow evening

StephanieA:
Some users are confused by the difference between "Cancel Series Recording" and "Delete Series Programs." The "Delete Series Programs" is for deleting programs that have already been recorded by series recording. It will be "grayed-out" if no episodes of that series are waiting for viewing. The "Cancel Series Recording" should be used if it is desired to remove that series from future automatic recording.

Ok, that part of the mystery (greyed-out Delete Series Programs) is solved. I haven't recorded anything in a program series little lone watched it to where it could be deleted. I just checked dvr this morning. When navigating to Cancel Series Recording - Select, nothing happens.
Thank you for explaining Delete Series Programs.

i have this exact same problem ... first noticed on 11/22 ~4pm or so -- have recycled the box 3 times, had the remote tech recycle it, sent a signal to it, etc.
However, i can cancel scheduled recordings on the client box -- now that is a first ... something works on the client box which is notoriously a problem
tech coming out tomorrow to deal with yet another problem with the contour /// maybe they can resolve this but from reading this thread sounds like they will not be able to do it
nice job cox

I would like to know the answer to this too, I have the same exact problem where nothing happens when I press cancel series recordings or cancel scheduled recording... and it's definitely not a zoom issue.

I've sent this information to our Video Team for review. I'll let you know once I get a reply back.

It's almost as if the SELECT button on your remote is not working, but I'm sure you tried it in other areas of the guide. Are any episodes of that Series scheduled to be recorded? If so, look on the GRID guide lineup for that episode. Does it have a red check-mark, or a red check-mark with another line parallel to it? Either way, highlight the episode and press select. Highlight and SELECT "Cancel This Recording." A blue-screen should pop up asking if you're sure. Press "B". That episode should no longer be scheduled to record.

I have one episode recorded in a series (CSI), and there's one episode to be recorded to a series (dancing with the stars - DWTS) later this evening. I will describe what I do and what happens.
DWTS: DVR List - Scheduled Recordings - right arrow - navigate to DWTS - select - arrow down to Cancel This Recording - select - nothing happens. Arrow up to Edit Record Options - select - I can change Until, Start ans End ( bottom of screen show B = Accept, C = Cance. When present, these functions appear to operate properly).
Back to viewing real-time tv.
CSI: DVR List - Series Managers - CSI - select - Cancel Series Recording (*note Delete Series Programs is an option now. We'll come back to that). - Select. Nothing happens. Arrow down to Delete Series Programs - Sel - screen pops out from right side asking if I want to delete, "B" yes delete. That episode of csi is gone. Cancel Series Recording - Sel - nothing happens.
what do you guys think?
also, one more test. DVR List - Scheduled Recordings - chose an episode - Sel - Cancel This Recording - Sel - nothing happens
