Bad internet, Slow internet, Speed issue< router, Electrical ??!!?!
Random internet drop out, Loss of connection, reload error messages, terrible streaming issues, I had better internet five-ten years ago. I dont understand it at all. My speed test shows good, But on any given day I have to reset my router two -three times per day. I have tried chrome, opera, internet explorer. I have scanned my computer for viruses and malware using all my tools that I use to fix those issues. IE, combofix, malware antibyte, hijack this, spybot, etc... I have tried browser safe modes. I even up'd my network bandwidth to see if that would help, It has not. The support department has told me that my network bandwidth never ceilings, so If my router AC1900 is a decent enough router regardless of traffic at any given moment if my bandwidth is not ceiling'd then throughput should be decent enough to get packets in time to avoid, service connection error messages. The messages I am getting are of the type that a packet was sent out and a packet was not received back in the desired amount of time so chrome shows the error reload page a network change was detected.
Do I need to up my service bandwidth again?
I have four pc's in the house no smart tv's 2 kindles and 3 phones, But I have trouble shot this by making sure that all devices except one are running at a time and I still get the error messages.
2 of the pcs are hard wired, 2 of the pc's are wifi and it does not seem to matter if the connection is wifi or not.
Should I be looking at Electrical noise as my issue? maybe get a AC filter?
Support has been out multiple times with no fix.
They even stated once that they did see an issue but it was not inside the house it was down the street somewhere. that they would fix.
I have been a customer for 2 years now, I cant get any other service provider where I live.
Desperate, I don't have tv account as I watch all my shows online...
Any thoughts?

Have you been trying to login to the router by chance?

You got a computer error? Sounds like a PC issue. What was the error exactly?
What is house call?
Why are you doing and timing scans? Internet speed has no effect on processing power. Do you suspect you have malware?
What is swagb bucks and ie adadd? What does it have to do with internet speed?

Tecknowhelp, housecall is Trend Micro's free on-demand virus scanner. It's good to scan a computer you think may be infected but it's just a scan, doesn't provide any on-line protection.
morganjeff, you workflow blog is nice but really doesn't give any incite to potential network problems. What modem and router are you using? Please answer Michael's questions. Do you loose connection when connected directly wired to the modem? As Teck posted, time to run a scan is irrelevant in solving network connectivity problems.

OK So I am going to try and get caught up I've been on vacation. My dad has slower connection teir than I do and better service. Oh well keep trying to figure my problem out here.
Ok lets see first reply...
Mike J replied:
Hi, if you by pass the router completely and connect directly to the modem using an ethernet calble are you able to maintain a connection? What brand of router do you have and what internet service tier are you subscribed to?
My response:
I do not have any additional router just the cable modem router supplied by Cox I did purchase it to avoid rental fees. It is Netgear AC1900 C6300BD. I have two pcs directly connected and 2 pc's wifi connected and other devices. As stated in initial post. I have done several tests by turning all other devices off. It does not matter if it is directly connected via cat 5 or wifi. Here is what happens. Wifi or network connection seems stable, IE. windows os , or linux os never reports any errors or restarts or "No Internet Connection" It is just the browser, chrome opera, ie, firefox, when I go to try and stream a movie or even sometimes just access a website sometimes as simple as www.google.com I get the error message "a network change has been detected please reload the page:" I do not know why the browser companies have decided to change there error messages as near as I can tell this corresponds with either error 404 page not found or response not received within allotted amount of time.
Reply2 from Chris:

My reply:
Not lately. I can when needed but I generally leave it alone because this one does not have any statistics that can point me in the right direction. I set it up pnp and some forwarding stuff for nomachine to work and leave it alone, If I feel the need to reset it I just unplug it for 30 seconds.
reply3 from tecknowhelp:

I wish I could see the old error messages all that any of the browsers show me when the error occurs is " a network change has been detected please reload the page." funny thing if I run a ping in the background constantly I have no issues but of course that messes a little with streaming.
What is house call?
House cahll is a trendmicro product that allows you to scan a computer without having the software loaded of course it does not do any real time protection since it is just an online scan. It found nothing. I do have avast. and I also scanned using MBAM and spybot and I now have iolo system mechanic. Nothing I have used to scan has found anything of significance and my problem is still an issue.
Why are you doing and timing scans? Internet speed has no effect on processing power. Do you suspect you have malware?
I am trying to prove to "cox" that I have no malware and that it is not a pc specific issue and that there has got to be something wrong because at times I can not even load a 3k webpage like www.google.com
What is swagb bucks and ie adadd? What does it have to do with internet speed?
swagbucks add on is a toolbar for www.swagbucks.com I use it to buy tools from amazon, I make money with it... the ie add on mis typo... I blogged it because MBAM and spybot found it as a PUP potentially unwanted program. Both are fine and I have found that neither really significantly affect pc performane or internet speeds. But cox tech support has told me many times " try to use the browser in safe mode or with out any add ons." So I thought I would mention that I use those two and only those two.

My reply as stated above just for summary. I thought I covered it in initial post. But to re iterate....
Netgear AC1900 C6300BD no additional routers in the way... 2 pc's connected cat5 (1 linux, 1 windows) both experience random outages were streaming or webpages are not loadable but I can ping all day long.... 2 pc's connected wifi both of those pc's experience same random outages but never report a "no internet condition" (windows systems)... all my other devices kindle android phones never really show a problem other than sometimes slow..... I have run tests by turning off all devices to see if that would make a difference and it does not... and I agree that run scan time does not do anything to help with network issues I was just trying to show that my system is clean....
Thank you for any help or insight you can give me.... Also I took my pc down to San Antonio with me on vacation and put it on my dads network as a test and it ran flawlessly for three days, was aable to watch all my shows with no staggering and was able to play my games flawlessly.
Whenever I run a speedtest right now I am showing Ill run three.
ping 17ms Download 34.79Mbps upload 3.57Mbps
11ms 41.82Mbps 3.26 Mbps
9ms 40.39Mbps 3.92Mbps
Decent speeds all three test usually I get one in the mix around 250ms 15 Mbps and 1.5 Mbps
But I still have jittery streaming and random webpage load errors.

I asked about the router login attempts as how I was seeing the gateway logging repeated failed login attempts. This could suggest there's a malware component to the issue that you've been troubleshooting which I see you've been exploring already. I don't see any recent attempts however since my last post so I'm not sure if something has changed on your end.

I have not login to my router lately. and I dont seem to be able to eversince last kidnap by cox tech services. But I have not needed to either so im happy there. I was unable to login about a month ago when I was trying to trouble shoot things before calling in for a service call. So that is probably what you saw.
I think maybe my streaming problem is combo of my service teir level and cbs and hulu. I am watching cw right now and no problems what so ever. But time will tell. I think I am going to do away with hulu most of what I watch I can find direct from content provider ie cbs, abc, ....
But that does not explain google website drop outs and sometimes yahoo mail drops too... I understand that individual website providers can have problems but it seems too often to me for the big ones like google......

As far as the connection is concerned you could try factory resetting the gateway to see if that helps. To do that push and hold the reset button for 30 seconds then you should be able to reconnect any wifi devices using the info printed on the label.

From everything you've described it sounds like the PC may still need some attention. Do you have another PC you can try testing your connection with?
