What is it you're trying to auto-tune?

I am trying to have my tuner go to the HD equivalent of a non HD channel.

AFAIK, Trio (Contour) has no HD auto-tune feature. Most of the channels that have HD versions will have the notation "[yellow triangle] A to watch in HD" on the info banner. Otherwise, add 1000 (most areas) to the channel number. For example, the SD version of HUB is channel 101. For HD, I go to channel 1101, or press [yellow triangle] A while the info banner is showing.

I don't think so because its a software issue, and I am pretty sure both boxes use the same software. I think that was a feature specifically from Passport. Does the new guide allow you to make a favorite list? Maybe that would be a work around?

No. I think that Motorola DVRs running its version of Passport (Passport DCT) had this feature. Your old DVR a Motorola?

No...what DVR did you have BEFORE the WHDVR. None? What made you ask about auto-tune?

He probably have a Motorola. I think you have already answered his question. Your box no auto-tune. Sorry.

I asked because it would be easier to key in 1 number rather than 4. Seems like 1 number would be the HD channels since that is what most people have by now. IMO

And you intuitively figured this would be called "auto-tune" ? Where did you hear the term "auto-tune" ? What is this "1 number" that you would key in instead of 4 ?

I heard of auto tune on this board. I would key in 4 instead of 1004.

So, in a handful of channels you must input four digits instead of one. In the vast majority of channels (those >99) you would be inputting four digits instead of three. If this bothers you so, simply use the HD list guide (which only has HD channels, no SD channels.) Simply highlight the channel desired, and press SELECT.
