ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141

I am going to have cox service set up in the near future and would like to purchase this modem, but I have seen connectivity issues associated with this modem on other providers. I was wondering if there have been any issues on Cox in the Oklahoma City area when using this modem ?

I will be using the "Cox Internet Premier", no tv or phone services.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Short answer: No. Buy the SB6141

The reason you may see alot of posts with people having problems is because the SB6141 is probably in the top 3 most widely used modem right now. It has 5/5 eggs on Newegg and 4.5/5 Stars on Amazon. Another reason is the SB6141 is the modem alot of people are upgrading to from DOCSIS 2.0 modems and there are differences, both in performance, but also quirks related to the tighter signal confines that a DOCSIS 3.0 modem needs. 3 things needed for a good internet is; Good cable signal, good hardware (modem and router) and a maintenance crew for your area that isn't lazy. Can't do much about the last one, but you have alot of control over the first 2.

One last thing, make sure when you call to add the modem, that they change the service code on your account for Premier to reflect that you now have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. This is assuming your old modem was DOCSIS 2.0. If you see your speeds cap at exactly 32Mbps, then the code probably isn't right. Good luck.
