Wednesday nite, cox cable goes nuts, cuts off American idol recording 12 minutes into the program. I have 3 dvr's. I wait 45 min. or so until I can watch & skip commercials. I brought up the program from the basement dvr thru my living room dvr. as I said, it started off fine, then started to freeze, pixelize, then it died at 7:12. I went downstairs , looked at the dvr, the red record light was still on, so thinking it was still recording, I left it continue and went back upstairs & watched it live. then, I went back and found it had cut off at 7:12.
of course, I called, and, of course, there were no known issues. they told me I could watch the entire program on the "on demand" feature. I do not use "on demand" so I am not familiar with it. I went on "on demand" to check & see other episodes of idol. there were none. there was a 12 minute snippet, that's it. no previous recordings, nothing. people tell me they can watch entire seasons of shows on , 'on demand".
then, I was told cox has no control over "on demand" content. it is controlled by the networks. does anybody know the story about American idol? they seem to restrict their programming reruns. I looked on hulu plus & I couldn't find idol. I was told EVERYTHING IS ON HULU! yeah, right.
on Thursday, the cable, phone, and internet died repeatedly during the day. I reported it. then, I reported it again. then, I reported it, again. I was finally told that since 5 people reported the outage in my area, they sent a technician out to troubleshoot. I was called Thursday early evening and was told that it was fixed. it's interesting that they do not send anybody out to check on lines until at least 5 people call in the area. they were able to determine from their end that my service was indeed dead, but that wasn't enough to get them out to fix it.
because of Wednesday nite's problem with the dvr with the idol program & the fact that another dvr in another room did not record anything during that time, they were going to come to house today, Friday nite, to look at my interior setup.
I did access "on demand" late Thursday nite & I did find that Wednesday's program was available in its entirety. I did find an interesting thing , tho, once you access it, you have exactly 24 hrs. to view it. the clock starts ticking once you start watching. you can watch part of it, and come back to it, resume watching. on Thursday nite, I was not able to start it from beginning, I could only do resume. however, today, Friday, I was able to watch from beginning.
anyway, Wednesday 2 hr. show will turn into a pumpkin in about 8 hrs. I have a separate dvd recorder that I purchased in 09 from jvc, and have just recently started using it for playing music. I am now going to try to record the "in demand" 2 hr. wed. nite IDOL program on my private dvd recorder. (I tried to record the "on demand" recording using cox's dvr, it doesn't work.
IDOL is one of those programs that you like to go back and watch several times because you don't always get a chance to absorb the performance in those lousy 90 seconds that they allow. this isn't the first time that American idol has been screwed up. I am definitely blaming cox for the problems with , first, the dvr, on Wednesday nite, and then, of course, it's their problem when the entire cable went out for hours on Thursday.
when I reported the dvr problem on Wednesday nite, their only answer was to schedule a tech on Friday nite. however, when the whole cable went out on Thursday, all of a sudden my dvr problem was a cox line problem, and magically, they cleaned up the problem without ever entering my home, interesting?
does anybody know If AMERICAN IDOL shows are available on the internet. I would specifically be interested in viewing perhaps every single one of the programs since its inception 12 years ago. I have always enjoyed the show and they have been responsible for bringing to the world stage, some absolutely amazing talent that would have never seen the light of day had it not been for their show.
of course, anytime the public gets involved, things can go wrong, as when sanjaya was kept in the competition years ago, and again, the little devils repeated their havoc when they kept voting for the stuttering Cuban, Alonzo , or whatever his name was. now, before you go screaming at me, he is a great kid, I admire him tremendously for having the courage to try out for IDOL, and he does have a good voice. however, he absolutely did not belong in the top 10. that was the judges fault for putting him through. then, they were stuck with him when the public took over control. it was embarrassing watching him make a fool out of himself, but, hey that's the public, they can be very cruel.
lastly, this is the best crop of talent I have ever seen, of course, they are all girls. girls always trump boys as far as singing talent, especially in the pop market. Joshua ledet , last year, was the last male that had incredible talent, along with Jessica sanchez. obviously, the public got it wrong again by not voting them ahead of phil Phillips, who is a great lounge singer, who plays a mean guitar, but , in no way is he pop idol material. he's another one who will just disappear off the map, because his music will never succeed in mainstream pop.

I can't speak to the American Idol part but I did look at the service quality to your DVR boxes and as of now they look ok. It's possible there was some signal related issue at the time. Should you continue to expeience any technical issues let me know and I'll take another look for you. Maybe some of our other users could speak more to your American Idol specific quetions.
