I had been having issues with my internet connection for a long time(9 months) and finally my connection completely stopped. I called Cox technical support and the woman couldn't help me, as she said she couldn't get a signal. I believed here because my modem couldn't get one either. She told me that she needed to send someone( a tech) to my apartment to have the problem resolved. At the end of our conversation it dawned on me if there would be a charge. She told me there would be a charge if the problem was on my end..my computer, modem, something I didn't tighten or plug in correctly, but not if it was a Cox Company issue. I told her to send someone because I wasn't getting any service. I also knew I couldn't be my fault. I don't mess with wires, connections etc. She never told me what Cox's fee would be if it were my fault. She never told me the price. I didn;t give it a second thought because I knew it was a problem with Cox, not me, I just didn't know where. Technician comes out and right away discovers that the white cable coming out of the wall is faulty and possibly has a short in it. This cable is probably DECADES old for all I know. This is Cox's cable, not mine. Their property, not mine. The cable is at least 9 years old for that's how long I've lived here. It's got to be much older, for here it is when I first moved in. I have been a faithful customer for 9 years with never a billing/last payment etc issue on my part. Anyway, this tech takes Cox's cable and snips off about 6'' on both ends and puts the fittings back on. Screws one end into the wall and the other in the back of my modem. Presto, my Internet service problems are solved. Now a month later I get my monthly bill with $75.00 added to it. I get on the phone and these unreasonable people tell me I have to pay for them coming out and repairing their own cable. THEIR PROPERTY! NOT MINE. Well, I have looked everywhere on this Cox website for clarification as to their policies and find none. Cox has the original recording when I first called them, which will prove I am being completely truthful in what I say. Then Cox tells me they will waive the $75.00 only if I agree to pay for insurance. This is clearly extortion. But their insurance or pay their ridiculous fee that was never my fault to begin with. Monday morning, Dec 7, 2015, I will indeed file a small claims suit because I wonder how many others have experienced the very same shame. It will cost me $54.00, but it will be worth every penny, as I m certain many more will follow once I win this case. KGUN 9 will be informed and they can interview me, And I will indeed speak my peace. I told them on the phone that I would not fold and simply let this issue go. Talk about unethical practices. Just pathetic. All they had to do was waive the unjustly billed $75.00. But no, they want to squeeze a customer for technical problems that's no fault of their customers.Charging me to fix their own OLD property. PATHETIC! califcurt028@yahoo.com
