6 tuner dvr issues cont

1. I have noticed this issue about the the lack of 15-30 seconds back after u fast forward is not built into this box or software and should be able to be enabled some where in the future i would hope.

2, I have noticed that the volume is very loud when I power up the tuner going through my receiver which i didn't have with the old Scientific Atlantic DVR and have seen it no matter what channel and no matter what volume i leave the receiver or the DVR on using both the fixed or variable setting in the DVR

3. I have set up many recordings on different channels that have only recorded one minute , for instance my wife watches DR Quinn on INSP channel i think 112 and had the issues with the 9pm time slot yesterday i had something recording at 11pm which had the same issue. "Edit"  came home today and had two more recordings with zero or one minute, when you try and play them they say playback is not availbe and to try later with the listed customer service number.

4. When you set something to record from the guide and then want to change it to record the entire series you have to cancel that recording and go into the next level of the guide and set it up again a pain and seems like an over site.

5. Lack of available documentation on the guide or the box itself, yes you have videos on the guide but they are basic and not helpful for anything in depth.

Any help would be great thanks

Wow, that's quite a list... Let me see which items I can cover here.
1, I'm not totally clear on myself. The Record 6 DVR is supposed to "shadow" the client box if there's a tuner free, so I'm not sure why the instant replay, etc. wouldn't be working. I'm going to have to check on this.
2. I haven't heard this one before. You say when you power up the tuner going through your receiver, so do you mean an audio/surround receiver? I haven't heard of any new interoperability issues. Is it connected by HDMI passthrough, or separate audio connections?
3. This one I have heard of but haven't seen myself. One thing that used to cause this kind of thing in older receivers was failure of a single tuner, but that seems unlikely in brand new boxes. Can you try power-cycling the receiver before your next scheduled recording and seeing if that has an effect?
4. That's good feedback, I don't know of a workaround but I'll pass it on.
5. Currently there's a series of videos at our YouTube channel, and there's also the older Trio guide manual which is largely still applicable, and the Cox Advanced TV Plus with Contour welcome kit guide.

1. Yeah not very cool when u can fast forward at 8x and hit play and it doesnt jump back a little

2. yes its connected through an Harmon Kardon AVR 254 via hdmi, haven't change any settings on the it since switching out the cable box, have tried all the settings in the cable box audio settings and the volume is still very loud on the initial power up of the cable box , also seeking advice from Harmon Kardon. "Edit" adjusted the starting volume of the Harmon Kardon unit down this helped but whats happening is the volume is really loud on the first channel that comes on no matter what then u change channel up or down or come back to the starting channel the level changes to normal. Also tested this just plugging the hdmi into the TV directly same thing happens even though no volume changes are made via remote or directly on the TV.

3. the box has been power cycled after each day now in hopes of fixing the issue but more and more im thinking this could be software related since others are having the same issue as seen on the boards. After power cycling it last night none of the recording setup after the box came recorded at all

4. Yeah that seems like an over site that is a little silly,

thanks for the help so far, I fear right now that we are paying to beta test somethings that should have been fixed in the soft roll out and by a few people i wont name in Atlanta...

Let me thrown in my two cents regarding this issue, since I've also been having it for some time now.

This issue was actually happening back with my original WHDVR set-up, but back then all I would see was the recording listed under 'missed recordings' with no real answer as to what went wrong. These new Record 6 DVRs have given much more information regarding the error.

This happened again to me this Sunday during Breaking Bad marathon. Here's a pretty good explanation of what is happening. I recording the entire 8-hour marathon. (8 episodes, all different recordings. Didn't try to manually record all at once). About 2-3 hours into the manual I go over to my client box and select the first episode to start watching. Client box just freezes on 'loading' nothing comes up. I change the channel to AMCHD, and sure enough there it is the marathon. So I know the station is broadcasting, and that my client box gets it no problem.

Walk over to the Record 6 tuner, try to access the recording there. Any recording that has already completed shows that it only recorded for 1min instead of the entire program. I try to play it, and I get about 2 seconds of video, and then it's done. Then I try accessing AMCHD on the Record 6 tuner. 'Sorry, there is currently no TV signal detected for this channel. The channel may be temporarily off air. Please try again later. Reference 3.1.2.0' REALLY? Station works fine in the other room. Unplug the box, restart, and voila! AMCHD is back on.

This has happened approximately once a week for a past few months. Never happens with ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, or CW. Always the higher stations (AMC, ABCFamily, A&E, MTV, Comedy Central.) All these stations are the HD channels.

I recently replaced the coaxial cable from the wall to the record 6 tuner. For about a week that seemed to work, but now the same problems are creeping again. I know it can't be anything regarding the signal after the record 6 box, since it's a recording malfunction. I have to assume it's either a software issue, or a problem with the signal coming into my home.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. Would be nice if someone had a fix for this.

Came home again to more recordings with 1 or 0 minutes, yes the box was power cycled last night ,it seems to be a software issue with a guide that has been out for more than a year and is still not a fully fleshed out product. I am starting to get VERY unpleased with this continuing issue, calling tech support has been no help either...

Another feature i'd like to see added is more features available to handle the transfer of informations from an old DVR to a new one. OPtimally I'd like to see a complete data transfer from an old DVR to a replacement; but I would settle with being able to transfer "Scheduled recordings and series" from the DVR you are trading in to the new and improved one. I've just gotten new Record 6 and I am now starting from scratch.

I'd love to be able to look at my "old" DVR on the network and simply change the DVR that the series will record on. Optimally, I'd like to see all of that information backed up to a cloud somewhere; so if my DVR blew up, I wouldn't lose any thing.

Transferring data is a wonderful idea; however legal requirements prohibit removing information on the hard drive of the DVR.
