15 second advance to eliminate commercials on recorded shows

We had DirecTV before moving to our new home.  On the remote were 2 buttons that could advance or rewind in 15 second intervals.  This was helpful in rapidly advancing through commercials .  I can't find that feature with Cox.  Is anyone familiar with a work around?
