Will Cox be carrying the ACC Network from ESPN this fall?

Hi KSW, at this time, we are unaware of any plans to have the ACC Network added to your channel lineup. However, I went ahead and placed a request to have this added to your channel lineup in the future. If Cox decides to move forward with this request, you will be notified via the “News From Cox” section of your monthly bill. -Kevin M. Cox Support Forum Moderator

Going by this reply, it sounds like there are no intentions to add Acc network anytime soon! Not a good move on Cox's part as most of their viewing area is ACC country.  I would expect they will lose a lot of customers.

Not a good move on Cox's part as most of their viewing area is ACC country.

While there are probably some ACC fans in most states, ACC schools are all located in the eastern part of the USA, primarily in states along the east coast.  This is an area of the country shared with other Power 5 conferences.  Fans in those other conferences might dispute the "ACC country" claim.  The overwhelming majority of us in the significantly larger area of the country that Cox serves, where there are no ACC schools, definitely don't consider ourselves to be in "ACC country".  Therefore, your assertion is false.

However, at a minimum, Cox should add the ACC Network to sports packages, that Cox customers can opt for, in markets where there is an obvious majority ACC fan base.  Everybody should be able to see their favorite college football team.  It may not happen in time for this season though.  Regardless of how Cox chooses to market it, they will probably wait and negotiate to have the ACC Network added when their ESPN contract next comes up for renewal.

Cox is in 18 states: AZ, AK, CA, CT, FL, GA, ID, IA, KS, LA, MA, NE, NV, NC, OH, OK, RI, and VA. Within these 18 states the P5 breakdown is as follows. ACC (10 teams), P10 (6), B12 (5), SEC (4), B10 (3). Out of the 18 state footprint, ACC (5 of 18), SEC (4 of 18), B10 (3 of18), B12 (3 of 18), P12 (2 of 18). In conclusion, within the Cox network, the ACC has the greatest number of teams at 10, and is represented in the greatest number of states at 5. The data says that the ESPN ACC Network should be primary, and that "opting" should be offerred for the other four P5 conferences. Mic drop!

According to your own stats, the ACC is in 27.8% of the states Cox serves and not in 72.2% of the states Cox serves.  Therefore, user Mallisonr's assertion that "most of their viewing area is ACC country" is false.  No Power 5 conference has teams in the majority of states Cox serves.  Pic the mic back up.

I also said "at a minimum...". My guess is that what I suggested is still more than what Cox is probably going to do... anytime soon anyway.  I feel your frustration.  If ESPN only has ACC games on the ACC Network and you can't get the ACC Network, you were better off before the ACC Network was created.  Maybe the powers that be will do something last minute and ACC fans will still get the ACC Network on Cox this season.  But, you might want to look around for another option, just in case.  Good luck.

Did I say anything about Mallisonr's assertion? NO. Did I say that any one Power 5 conference has teams in the majority of the states that Cox serves? No again. What I DID do is point out that the ACC has more team representation in the total Cox network than any other P5 conference, and that the ACC is present in more Cox states than any other P5 conference. Therefore, my statement that if any "opting" needs to be be done that it should be done by the OTHER P5 conferences is spot on. As far as Cox dragging their feet on picking up the ACC Network, with 10 ACC teams in their network, this foot dragging is going to cost them a LOT of loyal customers. The installer for my new carrier will be at my house the morning August 26th. Zoltar predicts that the defections are just starting.

Why are there no plans to add the ACC Network? You already offer SEC, PAC12, Longhorn Network and The BigTen Network.

Any response from the Roanoke, VA, request???  You carry the SEC, Big 10 and Pac12, which have NO schools in Virginia.  There are two ACC schools in Virginia.
