Why am I paying five dollars a month surcharge for regional sports, when I don't watch sports

I'd better quickly chime in before Cox locks this post.  Cox hates subscribers sharing billing information.

You only pay $5 for this scam?  I have to pay $7.  And what's a Broadcast Surcharge ($10) and what am I broadcasting to be charged said $10?

And ever since Cox transferred telephone service to the Internet, why is Cox still charging for long distance calls?  I can freely Zoom someone in Alaska but if I call Alaska, I'll be separately charged for using less data?  Aren't telephone calls just IP packets nowadays?

Was does everyone just want to rip us off every day.
